T53 – Reduction Gearbox

Identification & Location

The output reduction carrier and gear assembly is mounted at the front of the inlet housing.

System Design

The Output Reduction Gearbox consists of the following parts: support housing, carrier assembly, three planetary gear assemblies, a torquemeter assembly, and an output gearshaft. The sun gearshaft drives the three planetary gears mounted on the carrier and gear assembly, which in-turn drives the output gearshaft. The sun gear transmits power from the power shaft to the 3 planetary gears for RPM reduction.
